Roll-out of ACES in Chennai Central Excise zone on 05.10.2009.

         Hon’ble Minister of State for Finance (Revenue), Govt. of India,  Thiru S.S.Palanimanickam launched the ACES project to-day in all the Central Excise Commissionerates of Chennai Zone.  The Automation of Central Excise & Service Tax Processes (ACES) is a part of national mission mode for e-governance of the Govt. of India.  Under the IT consolidation project of CBEC, it is proposed to connect all the Central Excise, Customs & Service Tax offices across the country through a wide area network and provide linkages apart from assesses to other stake holders like custodians, banks, DGFT, Income tax for validation and online clearances.

            The project will facilitate the Trade in conducting their business in e-mode.  For this purpose, various software application modules have been devised.  They can obtain statutory registrations, file returns, obtain refunds and resolve the disputes in paperless environment.   It will be break-through in business  process re-engineering bringing out transparency in the system,  reducing the transaction cost and enhance efficiency in tax administration.  It will also minimize the interface between the tax administration and the Trade and reduce the tax compliance burden of the assessee.

            Shri.Y.G.Parande, Member, CBEC, New Delhi, Shri. Ahmed Hussain, Chief Commissioner of Central Excise, Chennai Zone, Shri. D.P.Dash, ADG (Systems), New Delhi and Shri.T.S.Rajagopalan, Chief Financial Officer, Wapco-TVS India Ltd., also spoke on the occasion.
