Sub:- Right to Information Act, 2005 – Appointment of  CPIOs / Appellate Authority for the Chennai Central Excise Zone –    Regarding. 

 ***** 

                   Attention of the public is invited to the Right to Information Act, 2005, which came into effect from 12-10-2005.  In terms of Section 5(1) and Section 5(2) of the RTI Act, 2005, read with Office Memorandum F.No.296/16/2005-CX.9 dated 09-08-2005 of CBEC, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Specified officers have to be designated as CAPIOs/CPIOs and First Appellate Authority.  Accordingly, Public Notices have been already issued. 

                   In supersession of all the Public Notices issued earlier in this regard, the Officers indicated in the Annexure to this Public Notice, have been nominated as CPIO and Appellate Authority under Section 5 and 19(1) of Right to Information Act, 2005, with immediate effect. 

                   This issues with the approval of the Chief Commissioner of Central Excise, Chennai.
